Dear Members and Fans,
Netball Australia, the members organisations and the clubs have today announced that the 2020 Suncorp Super Netball Season will be postponed until at least the end of June due to the continuing spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The virus continues to have a significant impact not only on our netball community, but the every-day lives for even the healthiest people across the country.
At times like this, and a time that not many of us are familiar with, we must be guided by the medical experts in regard to the health and wellbeing of the individuals at our clubs, our members and fans and the broader community.
The players are obviously disappointed that the start of the season has been postponed, however all members of the GIANTS Netball family support the decision of the Government and of Netball Australia.
The players will continue to work hard and stay fit during these unprecedented times through modified individualised training, so when the time to hit the court comes, our team will be ready - especially with a new home at Ken Rosewall Arena waiting for us.
Similarly, Netball Australia has also made the decision to delay the start of the Deakin University Australian Netball League, which will also be postponed until at least the end of June.
We know these are testing times for many across the community. We thank you for your patience and understanding during these trying times and encourage everyone to take care of themselves and those closest to them by following the advice of medical experts and the Government.
As GIANTS members and fans, let’s do our bit to stop the spread of this virus, so we can see the game we love back in our lives sooner rather than later.
We will continue to keep you updated with further information as it becomes available.
