The GIANTS will take on the West Coast Fever in round 14 with eight players fit and eligible to take the court.
Both April Brandley and Tilly McDonell have been ruled out of the match with ankle injuries.
Brandley sustained an ankle injury in the fourth quarter in Tuesday night’s thriller against the Sunshine Coast Lightning. Despite progressing through the week, she hasn’t passed the necessary tests in order to take the court on Saturday.
Tilly McDonell also suffered an ankle injury during Friday’s Captain’s Run session and has been deemed medically unfit to participate.
McDonell was sent for scans and cleared of any major structural damage, but will continue to be monitored throughout the week and will be reassessed leading into the first week of finals.
Given the current border restrictions in place between Queensland and New South Wales, the GIANTS are unable to fly in any training partners to replace either player.
The strict COVID protocols the teams are living under also makes it difficult to bring in a local replacement player at last minute.
