As one international series finishes, we get ready for another – the Fast5 Netball World series is back!
Six teams from the top netball nations will participate in the weekend long event, running from November 4 to 6.
This year Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, England, South Africa, and Uganda will compete while the Australian Men's Fast5 team will also play against the New Zealand Men's team and England Men's team in the tournament.
GIANTS’ own Tilly McDonell and Sophie Dwyer are in the squad to represent the Australian team, while unofficial Training Partner Taylor Glassie will represent the Australian Men’s team.

FAST5 NETBALL RULES
Fast5 is different from traditional netball with matches only 24 minutes long and split into six-minute quarters. There are three different scoring zones with goals shot from outside the goal circle worth three and inside the goal circle split into two and one goal zones.
Each team is only allowed five players on the netball court at once – they play without a wing attack and wing defence.
Unlimited substitutions are allowed throughout match play from the substitution box.
After a goal is scored, unlike traditional netball, the centre pass is taken by the team who did not score the last goal regardless of whether or not they took the last centre pass.
Both sides get a power play in the final 90 seconds of each quarter making every goal they score worth double.
Meaning a goal from outside the goal circle is worth six. The power play can turn a match around with the long bomb specialists able to quickly make up a large score deficit.
HISTORY
The Fast5 Netball World Series trophy is the one netball trophy that has eluded Australia.
The most recent series took place in 2018 with the Australian side finishing third with New Zealand finishing first and Jamaica finishing second.
During the 2017 series Australia also finished third with England defeating Jamaica in the grand final. Between the two of them New Zealand and England have won every Fast5 Netball World Series since its inception in 2009.
