The GIANTS are delighted to confirm their match day charity partners for the 2021 season.
In a first for the club, the GIANTS will partner with three charities across the 2021 season, supporting the McGrath Foundation, Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Western Sydney and Butterfly Foundation.
The McGrath Foundation will align with the GIANTS for round two to raise funds for McGrath Breast Care Nurses, when the GIANTS host the Collingwood Magpies at home at Ken Rosewall Arena.
In round eight when the GIANTS host the Adelaide Thunderbirds at home, we will welcome Little GIANTS Round in support of Ronald McDonald House GWS.
And in round 11, the GIANTS will support Butterfly Foundation through a Night at the Netty.
GIANTS Netball Executive General Manager, Tim Underwood, said it is a proud moment for the club.
“We are excited and honoured to have the opportunity to work alongside these three reputable charities, supporting their work through a range of activities and designated matches throughout the season,” said Mr Underwood.
“These three incredible organisations work across the different struggles or challenges people can face across three different stages of life.
“As a club we look forward to raising the awareness of these life challenges and supporting our community.”
McGrath Foundation Ambassador and Director Tracy Bevan said they are thrilled to be partnering with the club.
“With one in seven women diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime, unfortunately almost everyone will know someone who has or will have the disease,” Ms Bevan said.
“This partnership will play an important role in helping the McGrath Foundation fund our amazing McGrath Breast Care Nurses and raise awareness amongst the netball community of the importance of good breast health understanding and self-checking.”
CEO of Ronald McDonald House Greater Western Sydney, Belinda Woolford, shared her excitement at the opportunity to partner with GIANTS Netball.
“The partnership will extend our circle of support for families with seriously ill or injured children,” she said.
“Kiera Austin and Amy Parmenter are already beautiful Ambassadors of our charity and we’re looking forward to exploring further opportunities to create joy for families in our care alongside this wonderful club.”
Kevin Barrow, Chief Executive of Butterfly Foundation, echoed the joy of the other partners in aligning with the club.
“As the national body for eating disorders and body image concerns, this partnership provides a significant opportunity for Butterfly to reach more young people and their families,” he said.
“Our prevention services support positive messaging and role modelling to schools, parents and the community, and this partnership will help us build on this valuable work.
“With the GIANTS’ support we can work towards changing the way young people talk to themselves and each other about their bodies, moving to a place where everyone can accept and appreciate their body and what it can do.”
McGrath Foundation
The McGrath Foundation raises funds to support people with breast cancer by providing specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses where they are most needed across Australia.
The Foundation currently funds 162 nurses who provide essential physical and emotional support free of charge to anyone experiencing breast cancer and their families from diagnosis and throughout their treatment.
Breast cancer is estimated to be the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia and as the rate of diagnoses increases, so too does the need for McGrath Breast Care Nurses.
