It’s the second year in a row that the English international has taken out the top award at the night of nights attended by 200 people at Doltone House.
The team were joined by sponsors and VIPS, Netball NSW board, staff and members of the GIANTS family.
The award tops off another fantastic season for the 30-year old, who worked tirelessly to create headaches for the opposition, sinking plenty of classic long shots in her third season in orange.
Coach Julie Fitzgerald has praised Harten.
“Jo’s an incredible athlete and deserves the recognition she’s received tonight,” said Fitzgerald.
“She brings a great deal to our club both on and off the court and sets such a great example to our young group on how to prepare for competition.
“She’s a tremendous competitor and I’m really excited about what next season brings for Jo and the whole GIANTS Netball organisation.”
Young gun Amy Parmenter also topped off a stellar debut season, with recognition from the GIANTS Netball Members as their recipient of the Members’ Player of the Year Award.
Members and fans have already shown their excitement for the 22-year-old, who today was announced as remaining with the club until the end of 2021.
Sam Poolman was recognised by her teammates for her work both on and off the court, being awarded the GIANTS Netball Players Player for 2019.
This award takes into account her contribution and dedication to team values, culture and behaviours, combined with Poolman’s impressive on-court performance.
GIANTS Netball Team manager Denny Peacock – also known as the team mum – was voted the Club Person of the Year for her tireless work in ensuring all the players are looked after logistically throughout the Suncorp Super Netball season
The night also saw the GIANTS’ five debutants recognised on stage as well as Kim Green and Kristiana Manu’a’s who both reached significant milestones throughout the season.
Retiring star Kim Green took to the stage one last time as she shared her story of an amazing journey across 17 seasons with the room.
All speeches can be re-watched via the Live Stream of the event on GIANTS Netball Facebook or through the GIANTS youtube channel.
