The GIANTS’ 2021 playing dress will include a permanent representation of the Indigenous culture and community.
The artwork, which is represented in circular form, will sit at the top of the back of the dress.
The artwork was painted by Krystal Dallinger of the Gamilaroi tribe and symbolises a meeting place: meaning the team comes together from different places and walks of life to do what they love.
The 19 year-old artist has been the designer of the GIANTS’ Indigenous dress since 2018.
Dallinger said the permanent representation on the GIANTS’ playing dress is a step in the right direction for Indigenous representation
“For me to be able to share that with not only the GIANTS but with the whole community, it means the world,” she said.
The same artwork has been produced on a new and exclusive piece of merchandise apparel, by the GIANTS’ official Sportswear Partner Valour Sport.
The GIANTS have previously retailed their Indigenous dress and warm-up tee which have always been extremely popular.
“It’s so awesome to see the range expand this year with the jumper,” said Dallinger.
“To my knowledge it’s not been done before, so it’s pretty cool to get to be a part of it.”
Krystal’s artistic signature also features next to the artwork on the new crew jumper.
“I’m beyond excited for this,” Dallinger said.
“I wouldn’t expect this to happen and the thought of just seeing it around or on TV is blowing my mind.”
Dallinger has designed the GIANTS’ Indigenous once again this year, with the design and story revealed later in the season.
Members and fans can order the new crew jumper via the Valour Sports website.
