Dear GIANTS members and fans
The current status of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) both in Australia and worldwide is affecting many facets of the everyday life and our netball communities are being impacted like everyone else.
Sport is a powerful means which serves a purpose of bringing together like-minded and passionate people, however, at times like this we must be guided by the appropriate experts and take the relevant precautionary actions for the health and wellbeing of all involved.
In the past few days we have seen decisions made by our governing body Netball Australia in regards to the cancellation of both the Suncorp Team Girls Cup and the National Underage Netball Championships.
While disappointed for all involved, GIANTS Netball supports these decisions made by Netball Australia, with the health and wellbeing of athletes, administrators and spectators at the forefront of considerations.
At this stage, Suncorp Super Netball League management and medical professionals will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation as it evolves in relation to the upcoming 2020 Suncorp Super Netball Season, which is due to start on the 2nd May.
Following on from the decisions made by Netball Australia and the advice from higher authorities, it is with sadness that GIANTS Netball have decided to postpone the upcoming GIANT Carnival (5th April) and Junior Member Clinic (15th April).
All player appearances and community visits will also be cancelled until further notice.
The club is working with all necessary stakeholders to ensure we are doing everything we can to keep our people safe and minimise the spread of this virus.
Our club website and social media channels will continue to provide entertaining and engaging content during this time, as well as keeping you up to date with all the latest COVID-19 information relevant to you.
We thank you, our members and fans, for your ongoing support, understanding and patience during this situation.
Tim Underwood
