The GIANTS Academy have returned to the winners list on day five of the Australian Netball Championships
Winning all four quarters, it was a much more consistent performance from the GIANTS who were able to control the momentum.
Ang Frketic continued her impressive form at the tournament, shooting at 100% for the fourth straight game.
Ellen Spencer continued to win back plenty of ball and was well supported by both Lauren Moore and Erin O’Brien.
Head Coach Ali Tucker-Munro said she was really pleased to get the win today.
“We knew Lightning were going to be really tough, especially after losing a key member of their team in Reilley Batcheldor, you except teams to respond and step up – we definitely didn’t get complacent,” she said.
The GIANTS entered the match with the same game plan, GIANTS first but well prepared for their opposition.
“I think it was just a matter of having that trust and faith in the strategies and structure like I spoke about yesterday,” Tucker-Munro said.
“The girls really stood up, it got quite physical out there at times but we just absorbed that physicality and the pressure that was put on us.”
At the completion of the match the GIANTS are unaware of who they will come up against in the first round of play offs.
“We’ll just have to wait and see. Regardless we go back to reset, we’ve got to move on and recalibrate what our areas of focus will be for tomorrow.
