One of the most consistent wing attacks in the League will call the GIANTS home for another two seasons, with Maddie Hay re-signing with the club.
Hay scored the third-highest Nissan Net Points across the entire competition this season, ranking first for centre-pass receives and second for goal assists.
The 26-year-old played every game of the season, recording 11 intercepts and 31 deflections.
In her second full season at the elite level, Hay has become one of the best defensive wing attacks in the game.
“I'm super excited and grateful to be back in orange for two more years,” Hay said.
“I think we showed what we're capable of in 2021 and we'll be stepping it up again next year.
“Every year in Super Netball is crucial experience, I take a lot away from last season and I can't wait to make more improvements during pre-season with the girls.
“Thinking back to where I was six years ago makes so appreciative of my journey. The next two years are going to big ones!”
Hay first joined the GIANTS as a training partner in the club’s inaugural season in 2017, continuing to ply her trade just outside the main squad for three years.
From the Sutherland Shire Netball Association, Hay received her first full-time contract in 2020 and made an immediate impact, missing just one game in the past two seasons.
She was recently named in the 2021/22 Australian Development squad, a squad to continue to develop a depth of talent within Netball Australia’s pathway.
Hay is the club’s seventh player announcement and the seventh player to commit to a two-year deal, the maximum currently allowed based on the League’s new licensing and contracting deal.
Hay joins captain Jo Harten, young guns Tilly McDonell and Sophie Dwyer, as well as in-from defender April Brandley and fellow mid-courters Amy Parmenter and Jamie-Lee Price as GIANTS for 2022 and beyond.
Meanwhile, Kiera Austin and Kristiana Manu’a have advised the club they will be playing elsewhere in 2022, while Sam Poolman announced her retirement from the game.
Clubs have until October 8 to finalise their squads, with more announcements to be made in the coming days.
