Maddie Hay has been ruled out of the GIANTS’ opening round match with a knee injury.
The newly appointed vice-captain injured her knee during a collision at training on Friday but has been cleared of any serious damage.
The GIANTS’ starting wing attack has suffered bone bruising as a result of the collision and will miss the round one clash with the Sunshine Coast Lightning on Sunday, March 19.
Hay will continue to be assessed and will gradually return to full training over the coming weeks. Her return-to-play timeline will be confirmed following round one.
In other news, April Brandley and Amy Parmenter have both returned to full training and will participate in Thursday’s pre-season match against the Queensland Firebirds. Both are expected to be available for round one.
Captain Jo Harten continues to work through her rehabilitation following knee surgery in January and will be given until late next week to prove her fitness for round one.
