Captain Jo Harten and midcourter Amy Sligar will miss this Sunday's round nine match with the Magpies at John Cain Arena in Melbourne.
Harten aggravated a previous injury to her left knee after an awkward landing during the GIANTS’ round six match against the Queensland Firebirds.
She has been managing her training loads in the period since, however this week she has been unable to complete enough training to take to the court this weekend.
The GIANTS’ medical staff, in collaboration with Harten, have decided that a period of rest is required to settle the injury and ensure she can perform at her best for the remainder of the season.
Harten will be re-assessed next week.
Amy Sligar will miss a second game as she continues to recover from a concussion sustained at training last week.
Sligar is making progress in the return to play protocols, as per Netball Australia’s Concussion Policy, but has not been cleared to return to the court this week.
Harten and Sligar will be replaced in this week’s squad by shooter Ang Frketic and midcourter Taylah Davies.
