The league has distributed a full 14-round home and away fixture, with the season commencing the first weekend in May and concluding with the Grand Final on August 29.
The GIANTS will play four home matches in the opening half of the season, hosting the Magpies, Firebirds, Lightning as well as the Swifts in round six in the first-ever New South Wales Derby at the recently revamped KRA.
Round eight will be a split round for the competition, with the GIANTS facing the Thunderbirds on Sunday, June 20 before having a bye week the following week.
All seven of the GIANTS’ home matches will be played at Ken Rosewall Arena this year, with the GIANTS unable to take a home game to Canberra due to AIS Arena being closed for renovations for the duration of the season.
GIANTS Head Coach Julie Fitzgerald is excited to have a fixture now in place.
“It’s great to have a full 14-round fixture be delivered by the league,” she said.
“At one stage we thought we might only be able to fixture a few rounds, so for the league to be able deliver a full 14-round schedule instils a lot of confidence.
“We can’t wait to see the competition return to some normality - playing in front of fans and finally hosting our Orange Army in the amazing Ken Rosewall Arena.”
GIANTS Netball General Executive Manager Tim Underwood echoed Fitzgerald’s comment on the delivery of a full 14-round home and away season.
“We’re really pleased with the fixture,” he said.
“As a club, we’re thrilled to officially open Ken Rosewall Arena with its first netball match against the Magpies.
“It’s an amazing multi-purpose precinct and we can’t to finally welcome our GIANTS family there this season.
“We are disappointed to not be able to continue our tradition of taking a home game to Canberra this season.
“The club had all intentions of returning to Canberra this season, but unfortunately AIS Arena could not guarantee us a booking in the four-month period that the competition runs.
“We did explore alternative venues and options but there were not any other suitable venues that met the requirements to host a Super Netball match.”
Tickets for GIANTS home matches will go on sale in due course.
