The GIANTS Netball Academy underpins the GIANTS Netball Suncorp Super Netball program.
GIANTS Netball Academy seek expressions of interest from athletes who:
- Are strong performers in the Netball NSW Premier League competition, State Teams, Emerging teams or similar standard programs
- Display highly developed technical skills
- Show superior ability to read the game and adapt to opponents and teammates play
- Excel in physical testing
- Display a growth mindset, mental toughness and are self -motivated
- Demonstrate the potential to progress on the NSW performance pathway
- Desire to be a GIANT
To be eligible for selection athletes must:
- Be a current financial member of Netball NSW
- Aged between 18yrs (born 2007) and 25 (born 2000)
- Reside in NSW
- Netball NSW may grant an exemption to an ineligible player if that player has the potential to be considered a future SSN player
Nomination information:
- All athletes wishing to be considered for selection into the GIANTS Netball Academy or QBE Swifts Academy must submit an expression of interest to Netball NSW.
- This includes athletes who are currently on scholarship in GIANTS Netball Academy or QBE Swifts Academy.
- All athletes have a choice to nominate to be considered by GIANTS Netball Academy only, QBE Swifts Academy only, or to be considered by BOTH Academies.
- Expression of Interest nominations will open on September 2, 2024 and will close on September 20, 2024.
- Expressions of Interest applications submitted after the EOI period should be submitted to the General Manager Performance & Pathways for consideration.
Selection information:
- There will be no selection trials for the GIANTS Netball Academy or QBE Swifts Academy for the 2025 programs.
- The GIANTS Netball Academy and QBE Swifts Academy will independently determine the assessment criteria for selection into their Academies.
- The GIANTS Netball Academy and QBE Swifts Academy selection panels will review athlete performance in match play and video footage and may also consider past performance.
- From September 2, 2024 to September 16, 2024, the GIANTS Netball Academy and QBE Swifts Academy selection panels can offer to renew the scholarship of any athlete currently in their Academy for 1 year. During this period GIANTS Netball Academy and QBE Swifts Academy selection panels can only discuss contracts with athletes currently within their Academy.
- From September 17, 2024 to October 3, 2024 the GIANTS Netball Academy and QBE Swifts Academy selection panel can offer scholarships to any athlete who has been released from the alternate Academy or who has submitted an Expression of Interest for their Academy
- The GIANTS Netball Academy and QBE Swifts Academy selection panels are not obliged to provide feedback to athletes.
