As the 2023 season gets closer, the previews are flowing and the profiles are growing.
Section by section, third by third, we’re breaking it down and providing some insight into our 2023 squad.
The Names
Jamie-Lee Price. Maddie Hay. Amy Parmenter. Amy Sligar.
The engine room of the GIANTS’ line up is stacked with midcourt star power. Two Diamonds, a Super Netball Team of the Year representative and one of the most exciting up and comers.
Hay, Price and Parmenter are Fitzgerald’s go-to’s in the midcourt, with 20-year-old Sligar able to slot into all three midcourt positions.
Price and Parmenter come off stellar 2022 seasons with the pair further developing their game on the international stage and Parmenter also named in the Suncorp Super Netball team of the year.
Hay – the former wing defence – is a silent assassin in this GIANTS line up and often goes under the radar but is key to the GIANTS’ success. The 27-year-old has been appointed to an official leadership role this year, named as co-vice-captain alongside Price.
Sligar enters her second year in the GIANTS’ contracted 10 and is looking impressive with another pre-season under the belt.
Strong on the attack, but even stronger in defence, this unit is a force to be reckoned with.

The (Coach's Notes)
Coach's Julie Fitzgerald and Jenny O'Keeffe provide some insight on the players:
Jamie-Lee Price: "Jamie-Lee has come off the back of a very solid pre-season and is providing a great link between attack and defence. Her own defensive game has stepped up to a new level and in attack she is finding her shooters easily from circle edge. We've seen Jamie step up from a leadership perspective this pre-season as well and i look froward to continuing to see her grow in the space also."
Maddie Hay: "Maddie has produced some career best form in the pre-season, displaying speed, agility and some great feeds into circle. She is a very defensive wing attack and is capable of winning valuable ball back. Similar to Jamie-Lee, Maddie has also stepped up in her leadership responsbilites this year and i look forward to seeing her flourish in this space."
Amy Parmenter: "Amy has worked very hard in rehab during the pre-season and will hit her straps just in time for the seasoner opening. She's a great wall winner and her closing speed and anticipation are valuable assets to her style of play."
Amy Sligar: "Amy is a strong, agile player who can fill all three roles in the mid court for us. Her defensive game is gives us extra strength in the middle whilst her attacking powerless is improving with every outing. I look forward to seeing her continue to grow and develop with every opportunity she gets this season."
