Orange, loyal, passionate and as reliable as a Sophie Dwyer super shot– they are our 11th player. They are our incredible GIANTS fan base.
And the final round of the Suncorp Super Netball season not only sees a huge game against arch-rivals the Swifts but a chance to celebrate and recognise our MVG's with Member Appreciation Round.
Midcourter Amy Sligar says the team is always lifted by the Orange Army.
“KRA (Ken Rosewall Arena) is a special place to be when it's full and loud and that’s every home game for us. It’s so nice to look up and see orange and so many familiar faces, family and friends and supporters you’ve got to know along the journey,” she said.
“They’ve stuck with us through the tough times, they’ve ridden the highs and the lows with us and they are so supportive.
“It adds an extra player on court. There might be 10 of us on court but the crowd make it 11 and we’re very lucky to have them.”
For defender Tilly McDonell, the relationship with the orange army extends beyond the court.
“They actually care about us as people off the court as well which is pretty nice. We have a really nice relationship and real connection with them,” she explains.
“And I don’t really think of our supporters as fans because we’re all just one big family and community and it’s quite interconnected in that way.
“They’ve been immense this season and there undying love for us is really cool and their support doesn’t go unnoticed.”
Sligar hopes the GIANTS can deliver a win for the orange faithful and end the season on a high this Sunday afternoon.
“We’ve got the best song in the league so that feeling when the songs plays through KRA and you have 10,000 people all singing along is so special
“We want to give the fans that feeling one more time this year because there’s no better feeling that celebrating a win with them.”
Sunday's game is sold out, with single tickets only remaining. The game can be watched live on Foxtel and Kayo Sports.
