GIANTS young gun and rising Australian netball star Sophie Dwyer is one of five goalers named in the Origin Australian Diamonds tour squad for January's Netball Quad Series.
Dwyer has been elevated to the 2021/22 Origin Australian Diamonds squad and selected to travel alongside Gretel Bueta, Sophie Garbin, Cara Koenen and vice-captain Steph Wood.
Dwyer, 19, attended the Diamonds two-week training camp on the Sunshine Coast Earlier this year as an invitee and her elevation enhances an already talented and versatile shooting circle.
"Sophie is a wonderful addition to tour squad - she's competitive and incredibly determined," Origin Australian Diamonds head coach Stacey Marinkovich said.
"We look forward to watching Sophie continue her development as part of the Origin Australian Diamonds squad."
Garbin and Koenen return to the green and gold after lining up for the Diamonds in the Constellation Cup against the New Zealand Silver Ferns in March, while Bueta and Wood return from their respective maternity and injury leave.
Marinkovich said she was excited to see the mix of youth and experience on the court in January.
"This group has fantastic depth, and each player brings versatility the goal shooting circle," she said.
The Diamonds will come up against Netball England's Vitality Roses, the New Zealand Silver Ferns and Netball South Africa's SPAR Proteas at London's Cooper Box Arena from 16-20 January, 2022.
The four sides will go head-to-head once, with a third and fourth place game and a final to decide the winner of the Quad Series trophy.
The full Quad Series tour squad will be named over the coming days.
