Netball enthusiasts in Western Sydney have just been treated to an exciting and engaging partnership as GIANTS Netball officially completed a 10-week spring takeover of two local netball competitions.
GIANTS Netball made its presence felt at both the Liverpool City Netball Association and Campbelltown District Netball Association this spring competition season as part of the GIANTS’ commitment to expanding their footprint in Western Sydney, a region rich in sporting talent and a passion for netball.
As part of the action-packed 10-week venture, GIANTS Netball took the opportunity to engage with local netballers of all ages, coaches and fans in several fun activations designed to inspire and excite.
Each Tuesday night between October and December, GIANTS Netball engaged with both the Liverpool and Campbelltown netball communities with fun-filled nights featuring GIANTS Netball player appearances, giveaways, and fun activations such as photo booths and vertical jump tests and reaction tests for both players and spectators to enjoy.
The player appearances allowed fans the chance to get up close and personal with GIANTS stars, creating an atmosphere of excitement and connection that went far beyond just the matches on the court.
GIANTS principal partner HCF also did giveaways during the takeover, while the GIANTS sold snow cones to raise funds for the associations.
Popular GIANT midcourter Amy Sligar was one who featured at the Spring Takeover, with the bubbly 22-year-old loving the chance to connect with the local Western Sydney netball community.
“We love meeting our fans and getting amongst local netball communities and it was so much fun getting out to both Liverpool and Campbelltown to be part of the Spring Takeover,” Sligar said.
“Being able to interact with young netballers and help inspire the next generation of netballers is such a thrill and it’s great seeing how excited they get when they interact with us or participate in one of the activities.
“It’s awesome that as a club we have a real focus on engaging with our local community and making an impact on those around us.”
Campbelltown District Netball Association President Justin Rea echoed the positive impact the 10-week venture had on all involved.
“Campbelltown District Netball were elated to have GIANTS Netball take over our Spring Competition. Every week our participants looked forward to the activations and engagements the GIANTS provided,” he said.
“We loved the player appearances and interactions, and we would like to thank the GIANTS for their dedication to ensuring our Spring Competition was a huge success.”
Likewise, Liverpool City Netball Association President Rebecca Wakefield was delighted with the GIANTS engagement.
“We were thrilled to welcome GIANTS Netball to our Spring comp each week and loved having them involved,” she said.
“There was a great variety of activities for our participants to engage in each week and really kept them looking forward to what was next. We look forward to having them back for our winter comp and getting to a GIANTS home game in 2025.”
