The GIANTS enter the 2019 Netball World Cup bye in fifth position on the Suncorp Super Netball ladder after a frustrating month of June.
The GIANTS have spent the last three weeks in fourth position but a draw and back to back losses has seen them switch places with Collingwood.
For the first time, the season now breaks for a four-week period and will resume on Saturday 27 July for the final five home-and-away rounds before a three-week finals series to be contested by the top four teams, culminating in the Grand Final on Sunday 15 September.
The timing of the NWC presented a unique challenge for the league to manage, with 31 players selected to represent their country at the tournament (see list below), solidifying Suncorp Super Netball as the world’s premier netball competition.
The GIANTS have three players heading to Liverpool with Caitlin Bassett and Jamie-Lee Price representing the Diamonds while Jo Harten will be a key member of the England side on home soil.
A number of GIANTS players will take part in a Netball NSW composite side against the Diamonds this Wednesday before having some time away from the club in the coming weeks.
At the conclusion of the World Cup, the representative players will return to their respective Suncorp Super Netball clubs for the final five rounds of the Suncorp Super Netball season.
Measures have been implemented allowing clubs to increase final squads from 10 to 12 players for Rounds 10 and 11, with all players able to be substituted into the match at any time.
The GIANTS next match will be a crucial one, taking on the fourth placed Magpies in Melbourne on Sunday July 28.
The Netball World Cup kicks-off on Friday, July 12 with 16 nations contesting for the right to be crowned world champions.
The Samsung Diamonds depart Australia for the UK on Wednesday 3 July where they will spend a week in Manchester finalising preparations before arriving in Liverpool on 9 July for the tournament.
