The GIANTS are proud to announce the athletes that have been selected to represent the GIANTS Netball Academy at the 2021 Australian Netball Championship (ANC) in Traralgon, Victoria in September this year.
The ANC event, which will run for the first time this year, will also be the first time the GIANTS Netball Academy has competed in an official setting.
Previously known as the Australian Netball League (ANL), the revised event will be run as a stand-alone event and will host teams from seven member organisations as well as three Suncorp Super Netball sides.
The 12-player squad showcases the depth of talent in the NSW and GIANTS Academy pathway and is boosted by the inclusion Tilly McDonell and Matisse Letherbarrow from the club’s Super Netball side.
GIANTS Academy Manager Jenny O’Keeffe congratulated all players on their selection.
“The selection of this team was extremely difficult and that’s a testament to the depth of talent not only in the final 12-player squad, but throughout the entire Academy program,” said O’Keeffe.
“It’s been a challenging time for these players in their pathway and development of late, but I can only commend them all on their approach to preparing for this event.
“The focus recently has been on their individual programs, particularly through the many weeks in lockdown – however we’re excited to see what they can bring when they come together as a group.”
The Championships are set to run from September 13-19 at Traralgon’s Gippsland Regional Indoor Sports Stadium.
