The GIANTS will be playing for their season this weekend when they take on the West Coast Fever at Qudos Bank Arena on Saturday in Round 14 of the Suncorp Super Netball Season.
There will be extra motivation out on court with GIANTS Netball Captain Kim Green announcing on Thursday that she will be finishing her incredible career at the end of the season.
The GIANTS come into the game off the back of a 14-goal victory against the Adelaide Thunderbirds last Sunday, their biggest of the season.
Meanwhile, the West Coast Fever went down to the Queensland Firebirds in Round 13, as the Firebirds recorded their first win of the season.
GIANTS currently hold onto fourth spot, one point ahead of the Collingwood Magpies.
A win and four bonus points in Saturday’s clash with the Fever would guarantee them a third successive finals appearance; anything less and they will need to wait until the final game of the round when the Magpies take on the third-placed Vixens.
If both sides finish equal on points, the team with the most matches won will claim fourth spot, however with both sides currently on six wins each percentage will be the deciding factor.
Last time the GIANTS and Fever met back in Round 7, the teams recorded a controversial 62-62 draw, with a last-gasp goal for the GIANTS being denied by the umpire.
The Fever currently sit in sixth position with two wins, three draws, eight losses and 17 bonus points.
The GIANTS lead head-to-head with three wins, two losses and one draw.
Saturday’s match will be the first of a big double header at Qudos Bank Arena with the Swifts playing the Firebirds later on Saturday.
GIANTS fans are encouraged to get along for what might be Kim Green’s last match in Sydney. Tickets are available for from Ticketek.
If you cannot make the game tune in from 3pm to Channel 9 or the Netball Live App.
