Where and when: University of Sunshine Coast, Sunday September 6, 1:00pm AEST
Last time they met: The GIANTS and the Lightning last met in round five where one of the most controversial moments of Suncorp Super Netball history occurred. The GIANTS were in full control of the game and looked in a great position to take the win, but after being reduced to just six players for the remaining nine minutes of the game, they ended up going down by just one goal.
TV and online: Channel 9, Netball Live App + Telstra TV
What it means for the GIANTS: After a disappointing loss to the Vixens in round nine, a continuous string of wins has never been more important for the GIANTS. Currently sitting in fifth position, six points behind the West Coast Fever, the GIANTS will need to secure two more wins than the Fever in the remaining rounds to jump them.
Where’s the opposition at? The Lightning currently sit in third position and will be coming off a six-goal win over the Adelaide Thunderbirds. The Lightning have played the past two games at Brisbane’s Nissan Arena and will no doubt be looking forward to returning to their home venue for a GIANTS hosted match.
In the spotlight: The pressure lies on the GIANTS who are now fighting for a spot in the top four.
Interesting Stat: The GIANTS have not beaten the Sunshine Coast Lightning at home since round four of the inaugural season in 2017.
