Last Time they Met:
The Fever dominated their round three clash, taking control early through a slick attacking connection, led by Alice Teague‑Neeld and the accuracy of Romelda Aiken‑George. Their defensive pressure, anchored by Kadie‑Ann Dehaney, shut down the GIANTS’ long‑range game and forced repeated turnovers that the home side converted with ruthless efficiency.
By halftime, the Fever had surged to a double‑digit lead and pushed the margin out to 20 in the third, leaving the GIANTS chasing the game. A late spark from Matisse Letherbarrow and Sophie Dwyer narrowed the gap, but the Fever’s early dominance ensured a comfortable victory despite a messy final term.
What it Means for the GIANTS:
The GIANTS head into the final two rounds hungry to deliver a performance that reflects the potential they’ve shown in patches throughout the season. They’ve produced moments of real quality; the challenge has been sustaining it and that unpredictability is exactly what makes them a dangerous opponent at this stage of the year. When their connections stick, they can trouble anyone.
That’s the opportunity in front of them now; a chance to disrupt, to grow, and to remind the competition of the level they’re capable of reaching.
What it Means for the Opposition:
For the Fever, this matchup carries serious weight. They are one win away from locking in a finals berth, but last week’s loss to the Mavs at home has rattled their momentum and sent a jolt through the competition.
A strong performance would secure their finals spot and, just as importantly, give their percentage a much-needed boost heading into Round 14. An upset, though, would throw their campaign into real uncertainty.
The Name:
Kadie-Ann Dehaney
The Jamaican is the defensive force the GIANTS must overcome. In their last meeting she delivered a dominant outing, piling up 73.5 Net Points, 7 gains, 2 intercepts, 7 deflections and a rebound and was central to shutting down the GIANTS’ long-range threat.
Her season numbers back it up: fourth in the league for defensive rebounds (17), along with 14 intercepts and 42 deflections. She thrives on disrupting rhythm, and that’s exactly where the GIANTS’ attack can’t afford to falter.
When the shooting circle gets locked down, the flow up the court often follows and with two‑point shooting such a key weapon for side, they’ll need to stay proactive, mobile and connected to keep Dehaney from dictating terms.
The Narrative:
The GIANTS have battled through injury and adversity all season, but their never surrender attitude has remained a constant. They’re still chasing a performance that reflects their best, determined to finish with purpose and prove they can unsettle a contender when their connections land.
Across the court, the Fever are suddenly vulnerable after back‑to‑back losses that have tightened the pressure around their run to finals.
That combination sets the stage for a meeting loaded with possibility. The GIANTS have nothing to lose and everything to gain, while the Fever have everything on the line. They need stability, momentum and percentage, and they need it now.
The Notes:
“We’ve stuck together for the last twelve rounds, and this week is going to be no different. We’ve got so much fight and we’re going to bring that this week, and we’re going to bring that next week as well. We’ve still got that belief.” - Amy Sligar
