The GIANTS will travel to South Australia this weekend to take on the reigning premiers at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
The Thunderbirds have fought hard to sit just inside the top four with two wins and one loss, while the GIANTS are chasing their first win of the season in round four.
When and Where: Saturday, May 4 at 7pm EST/6:30pm CST at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Where to Watch: For fans residing in Australia, you can watch Sunday’s game via Foxtel or Kayo Freebies. Meanwhile, international viewers can watch the game via Netball pass. For more information click here.
Last Time they Met: The two teams least met in round eight of the 2023 Suncorp Super Netball season, which coincidentally also fell during last year’s inclusion round. Played at the GIANTS’ home – Ken Rosewall Arena – it was the Thunderbirds who took the victory. Just one goal split the two sides heading into the final 15 minutes, however it was the eventual premiers who surged strong in the final quarter to take the win by four goals.
What it Means for the GIANTS: It's déjà vu for the GIANTS who sit 0-3 ahead of a round four trip to South Australia. Currently one of two teams who remain winless, the GIANTS will be looking to replicate their round four trip to Adelaide from last season and take their first win of the season against a new-look Thunderbirds side.
What it Means for the Opposition: The Thunderbirds sit 2-1 ahead of their return to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre this weekend. Battling it out in some of the closest games so far this season, the reigning premiers have had a one-goal win, a one-goal loss, plus an over-time victory to start their season. Despite welcoming a new-look shooting circle this season, the Thunderbirds are well-placed to defend their 2023 premiership.
The Name: Jamie-Lee Price – the GIANTS’ newly elevated co-captain has continued to lead the engine room for the GIANTS this season. Despite a challenging start to the season for the team in orange, Price sits in the top five for individual Nissan Net Points. A natural ball winner, the 28-year-old also leads the GIANTS in goal assists so far this season.
The Number: 7 - The Thunderbirds have attempted just seven Suncorp Super Shots this season compared to the GIANTS’ 61. Since the departure of Eleanor Cardwell and Tippah Dawn, the Thunderbirds have been less inclined to shoot long range during the Power Five.
