Last Time They Met: The back-to-back reigning premiers got the best of the GIANTS in both meetings between the sides last season. On their way to becoming the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball champions, the Thunderbirds first beat the GIANTS in Adelaide in round four before making it two from two with a 57-42 win at Ken Rosewall Arena in round 10.
What it Means for the GIANTS: After a week off during the split bye, the GIANTS will return home to KRA refreshed and ready in search of their first win of the early season after a pair of close losses across their first three games. Before the bye the GIANTS battled hard with the Firebirds and the Vixens but fell just short in both games before the Mavericks proved too good on the day in round three at John Cain Arena. Despite the winless start the GIANTS have played some eye-catching netball over the first three games, with the likes of midcourter Amy Sligar and Matisse Letherbarrow both providing sparks for Julie Fitzgerald’s side at different times. Back at home for the first time since the season opener, the GIANTS will be hoping to put together a four-quarter performance in order to register what would be an impressive win over the Thunderbirds on Saturday.
What it Means for the Opposition: Adelaide will also enter KRA well-rested on Saturday after a bye last weekend following a 2-1 start to their season. The Thunderbirds started their title defence with back-to-back wins over the Vixens and Lightning but prior to the bye suffered an upset eight-goal loss to the Swifts in Adelaide. The Thunderbirds will be looking for more consistency on Saturday against the GIANTS after a second-half fade out against the Swifts last time out. Starting the match strongly to lead 18-11 at the end of the first quarter - and holding a four-goal lead at the half - Adelaide was outscored 36-24 in the final two quarters to fall 65-57.
The Name: Georgie Horjus – Last year Horjus cemented herself as one of netball’s brightest young stars and if the GIANTS are to take down the Thunderbirds on Saturday they’ll have to do their best to restrict Horjus’ impact. Now in her fifth season at the Thunderbirds, at just 23 years old, the versatile WA/GA entered the 2025 season as not only a two-time premiership player but as the reigning Suncorp Super Netball Player of the Year after being crowned the league’s best player last year. Despite her talents, the GIANTS will be hoping their dynamic midcourt of Jamie-Lee Price, Amy Sligar, Maddie Hay and Hope White can shine brightest on Saturday in search of a win over the Thunderbirds.
The Number: 426 - Romelda Aiken-George and Jo Harten are the league’s longest-serving players, combining for 426 games across their stellar careers to date. Renowned for their prolific play and dominance within the goal circle, both are icons of the sport and enduring forces of the game.
