Last Time They Met: The two sides last met at the home of the GIANTS, Ken Rosewall Arena, in the 2022 Semi-Final. The GIANTS led at every break but the Magpies remained in the game up until the final three minutes. Captain Jo Harten shot 40 from 44 including four of six Super Shots and was rock solid, as was wing attack Maddie Hay who was named Player of the Match. The GIANTS missed more shots than the Magpies but the home team hit six of nine Super Shots, while Collingwood netted just one of three.
What it Means for the GIANTS: After a slow start in terms of wins on the board, the GIANTS are looking to build on the momentum of their five-goal win over the undefeated Adelaide Thunderbirds in South Australia last weekend.
Where’s the Opposition At: The Magpies also enter Saturday's match coming off a win. Last round they put in a huge 23-8 third quarter to set themselves up for their second win of the season against the Firebirds. They defeated the NSW Swifts in round one and came close to the Melbourne Vixens, going down by one in a controversial affair, in round two.
The Name: Amy Parmenter – the fan favourite was back at her best last weekend, picking up plenty of ball and shutting down Thunderbirds wing attack Georgie Horjus. Parmenter will this week have the challenge of the Magpies’ Kelsey Browne, who last week recorded 29 centre pass receives and 39 feeds.
The Number: 15 - Saturday will mark the 15th official match between these two expansion sides, with both the GIANTS and the Magpies entering the new-look national competition in 2017. They've met on six occasions in a regular home and away season (inclusive of the two hub seasons) and twice in finals. The GIANTS hold the head-to-head record comfortably with 13 wins to the Magpies’ one.
