The 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season will mark a new era for the GIANTS.
New leadership. New talent. Fresh energy.
A fresh chapter begins as the GIANTS blend emerging stars with seasoned experience under new guidance. Energised and determined, this squad is set to bring intensity and ambition back to the court in 2026.
Shooters:
The GIANTS’ shooting circle in 2026 boasts a dynamic trio, combining familiarity with fresh firepower. Sophie Dwyer returns as a key figure, ready to lead the GANTS’ shooting circle following the retirement of Jo Harten. Matisse Letherbarrow returns, continuing to grow in confidence and consistency, offering a sharp shooting eye from all distances in the goal circle.
Joining them is dual premiership player Lucy Austin, who arrives at the GIANTS from the Adelaide Thunderbirds. Her athleticism and ability to play both a holding and moving game further bolsters and complements the GIANTS’ shooting options.
Together, this trio brings versatility, range, and plenty of scoring potential — setting the foundation for a potent and evolving frontline in 2026.
Midcourters:
The GIANTS midcourt enters the 2026 season with a fresh identity, blending emerging local talent with international flair. With Jamie-Lee Price’s departure, Amy Sligar takes on greater responsibility after a breakout 2025, bringing speed, smarts, and defensive grit. Hope White continues her development as a steady and creative option through the middle, while new recruit Casey Adamson adds tenacity and flexibility after impressing in the Victorian Netball League.
Adding experience and finesse to the mix is Whitney Souness, who joins from New Zealand’s Central Pulse. Known for her silky feeds and composure under pressure, Souness will bring valuable international experience to a young and emerging midcourt.
Together, this midcourt unit offers a balance of flair, youth, and structure — setting the stage for a bold new chapter in GIANTS Netball's evolution.
Defenders:
The GIANTS’ defensive end in 2026 brings together a balanced combination of experience, athleticism, and versatility. Erin O’Brien continues to develop as a strong presence in the circle, using her height and timing to contest every ball. She’ll be joined by experienced Silver Ferns defender Jane Watson, whose calm authority, anticipation, and leadership qualities will be key in marshalling the backline.
With Jodi-Ann Ward currently recovering from an ACL injury, the GIANTS are eagerly anticipating her return - Ward’s fierce competitiveness, versatility, and high-impact play make her a crucial part of the defensive line-up. In the meantime, fan favourite Tilly McDonell steps in as her temporary replacement, bringing her own blend of tenacity, athleticism, and relentless energy.
Together, this defensive group combines resilience and skill, forming a backbone the GIANTS will rely on to stifle opponents and fuel their push in the 2026 season.
