GIANTS star Jamie-Lee Price and the Australian Diamonds will face their biggest test yet as they take on Jamaica for a spot in the Netball World Cup final early on Sunday morning (AEST).
While the Diamonds have never missed a final in the World Cup, to avoid creating unwanted history they will have to bounce back to their best after a nail-biting 56-55 upset loss to England in their last group game on Thursday night.
The one-goal defeat was the first time Australia has ever lost to England in the tournament’s history.
After prevailing in the previous 13 encounters at a World Cup, Australia gave up a six-goal halftime lead to England as the Roses fought back to register a stunning win - scoring the winning goal with just 47 seconds left before holding on for victory.
The loss means GIANTS and Australian star Price and her teammates must now beat Jamaica for a spot in the World Cup final in Cape Town.
Jamaica, seen as the in-form team in the tournament, will enter the clash following an impressive 69-58 win over the New Zealand Silver Ferns.
The winner of Australia v Jamaica will face either England or New Zealand, who will clash in the other semi-final.
With a record 11 World Cup titles to their name, the Diamonds are just two wins away from adding to their illustrious fortunes at the tournament.
Australia v Jamaica will begin at 12:00am AEST Sunday morning.
