GIANTS Netballer Amy Parmenter has received a late minute call up to join the Suncorp Super Netball All-Stars side for this weekend's Bushfire Relief Match at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney.
Parmenter joins the team after an on-flow of team disruption after Australian Diamonds player Ash Brazill was injured in an AFLW match on Friday night.
Brazill injured her knee playing for the Collingwood Magpies in the AFLW’s bushfire relief match and will not travel to Sydney to represent the Origin Diamonds in the netball showdown.
Replacing Brazill in the Origin Diamonds team for tomorrow’s match will be Origin Diamonds squad member and Queensland Firebirds captain Gabi Simpson, who was previously selected as part of the Suncorp Super Netball All-Stars team.
GIANTS Netball young gun Amy Parmenter has been selected to replace Simpson in the All-Stars team and will join the team in Sydney today.
Brazill will this weekend undergo scans to determine the extent of her knee injury.
Origin Diamonds Head Coach Lisa Alexander, who will lead the team into battle one last time tomorrow, expressed sadness in hearing the news.
"It was heartbreaking to see Ash go down with an injury last night. We are all feeling for her and wish her all the best for her recovery. She is a big part of the Diamonds squad and we look forward to welcoming back when she is ready.”
The Origin Diamonds will take on the Suncorp Super Netball All-Stars at 1pm AEDT tomorrow and the match will be broadcast live across the nation on Nine and the Netball Live Official App.
All funds raised through Netball Australia’s initiatives will be donated to a Natural Disaster Relief Fund which has been established through the Confident Girls Foundation with the purpose of supporting netball-specific bushfire relief and recovery projects.
