GIANTS Netball are set to take the court again this weekend in preparation for their 2020 season.
The team will travel south to Goulburn to take on the NSW Swifts in an exhibition match that features as part of the 2020 Netball NSW Conference.
Saturday’s game will be the first time the two New South Wales teams have battled it out for 2020.
Both teams come off a few days in New Zealand, where the GIANTS were successful in all three of their encounters and the Swifts successful in defeating the Waikato Bay Plenty of Magic in their one and only match.
GIANTS Netball Head Coach Julie Fitzgerald said the team is looking forward to heading Goulburn.
“It’s been a big week for the girls, but we’re all really looking forward to putting on a good match for the people of Goulburn,” she said.
“We had some really good quarters and patches of play in New Zealand, so I’m looking forward to building on them and some consistency as we continue our preparation for the season.
“We didn’t get to test the new rolling substitutions rule over there (New Zealand), so with an extended squad on the bench we will definitely be looking to test that out.”
Two of GIANTS’ more experienced players in Caitlin Bassett and Sam Poolman are both unavailable for the match, providing a great opportunity for training partners Sophie Dwyer, Matisse Letherbarrow, Latika Tombs and Toni Anderson to join the squad.
Veolia Arena in Goulburn is expected to be full of orange and red, with the game selling out within days of it going on sale.
The game will not be live streamed, however members and fans not attending the match can keep up to date with live scores and updates via the GIANTS Netball social accounts.
The GIANTS will head further south to Canberra in round five of the Suncorp Super Netball League to take on the Queensland Firebirds on Saturday 30th May.
