The excitement levels will hit a new level as the GIANTS Netball team welcomes the New Zealand franchise – Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse – to town for a highly anticipated series of practice matches later this month.
The GIANTS' Suncorp Super Netball team will face off against Pulse in a marquee match on Monday, March 24 at Netball Central, giving the GIANTS a chance to test their skills against one of the most accomplished teams in the ANZ Premiership.
The Wellington based franchise are one of the top teams in the ANZ Premiership, and their impressive track record speaks for itself, having made five of the past six grand finals.
Their reputation for high-level performance will make them a formidable opponent for the GIANTS, and fans can expect a high-intensity, thrilling match.
The travelling Pulse side will feature New Zealand Silver Ferns Maddy Gordon, Kelly Jackson, Whitney Souness and Amelia Walmsley
This game will be the GIANTS' 11th pre-season match as they gear up for the start of the 2025 Suncorp Super Netball season. It’s an important test for the team as they continue to fine-tune their strategies and combinations ahead of the new season. For the Pulse, however, this match will mark their first official hit-out of the pre-season, having only just begun their training this week.
The Pulse’s trip to Sydney, will also include a match against the GIANTS Academy as part of a closed event on Tuesday, March 25.
GIANTS head coach Julie Fitzgerald expressed her excitement for the upcoming fixture.
“This will be a great test and something different for our girls,” Fitzgerald said.
“We aren’t as familiar with the Pulse as we are with our fellow Suncorp Super Netball sides so it will provide us with a great opportunity to measure our progress in both attack and defence.
“The Pulse are a top-tier team with a strong track record, so we’re really looking forward to seeing how we match up against them and their style of play – it's always important to play against different styles and this will definitely give us a fresh challenge before the season kicks off on April 6.”
Entry to this game is free for members – however you must redeem your ticket. Check your emails for the code to redeem.
