The week consisted of three days of training, with some double sessions to round out the week.
GIANTS defender Kristiana Manu’a said it was nice to have a break, but the time they have spent training together this week has been a good challenge.
“We’ve spent more time on court and building in more match play,” said Manu’a.
“It’s been fun, but it’s been challenging.
“We’re focusing on the basics at the moment, learning to nail catching and throwing again.
“After a long break I think we’re catching with two left hands a bit at the moment, so we’re just concentrating on getting that right before we move on to combinations too much.”
It’s been a big and exciting week for Manu’a and her family, with her older sister welcoming a new baby girl into the GIANT world.
“It’s not my baby, but there has still been lots of learning and adapting,” admitted the new Aunty.
“I live with my sister and her new baby, so I’ve got to prep more and focus on my sleep (or lack thereof).
“It’s very exciting though and gives me a reason to wrap up training quickly and get home.”
There was another big announcement for the 24-year-old this week with selection in the All-Stars team for Netball Australia’s Bushfire Relief match.
Manu’a was named alongside some of the best netballers from around the world, including Geva Mentor, Laura Langman and fellow GIANT Jo Harten.
“I feel very not worthy amongst some of those players, but it’s really exciting and I’m grateful for any opportunity to play against the Diamonds or amongst those calibre of players,” confessed Manu’a.
“I’m looking forward to playing against my good mate Jamie-Lee and against Kip (Kiera Austin), CBass (Caitlin Bassett) and alongside Joey (Harten).”
