GIANTS Netball are excited to confirm the re-signing of two more players, with Jamie-Lee Price and Maddie Hay both committing to the GIANTS for another season.
Price will enter into her fifth season with the GIANTS, having been a foundation player since the inception of the club back in 2017.
The Australian Diamonds mid-courter was a stalwart for the GIANTS in 2020, playing 809 of a possible 840 minutes.
The 24-year-old celebrated her 100th National League game in round nine of season 2020, making her the second-most national capped player in the GIANTS’ 2021 squad to date.
Price said it means the world to re-sign with the GIANTS.
“I have absolutely loved the past four seasons and to get to put the orange dress back on again in 2021 excites me,” she said.
“This year we definitely showed glimpses of what we’re capable of. When we are good, we are bloody fantastic – it’s now about building to be like that throughout all four quarters.
“We have a really exciting bunch of girls, with some really good combinations and I can’t wait to show what we’ve got next year.”
Maddie Hay will also return to the GIANTS for her second season as a contracted player.
Hay too has been a part of the GIANTS setup since the inaugural season. She spent the first three years as training partner before she was rewarded with elevation to the contracted 10 for season 2020.
The 25-year-old had an impressive debut season with the GIANTS, with the Sutherland Shire Netballer quickly cementing her spot in the wing attack position.
Hay said she was extremely grateful to be offered another contract.
“I know how hard it is to get a contract and I am just as grateful as I was last year and so excited to be able to do it all over again,” she said.
“I loved my first season with the GIANTS – it was unusual, but I’m fortunate in that I enjoyed it and I was surrounded by such amazing people.
“I felt really lucky to get so much game time under my belt, but now I can’t wait to play in front of a sea of orange at Ken Rosewall Arena here in Sydney.”
Price and Hay will join the already-contracted Amy Parmenter to retain the GIANTS’ preferred mid-court line up from season 2020.
Based on the league’s current squad setup, the GIANTS still have two spots left to fill.
