The GIANTS are excited to announce that young gun Monika ‘Otai has re-signed with the club as a training partner for the 2026 Suncorp Super Netball season.
An exciting young shooter who has come through both the GIANTS Academy and Netball New South Wales pathways, ‘Otai is the second training partner confirmed by the club for the 2026 season.
Previously a training partner in 2024 before signing as the club’s eleventh player for 2025, ‘Otai will continue her development in the GIANTS environment in 2026 as she looks to take another step towards a full-time Super Netball contract.
Regarded as a star of the future, ‘Otai impressed in GIANTS colours last year both in her Super Netball debut as well as in the Super Netball Reserves competition.
An accurate shooter with great leadership qualities, ‘Otai is a powerful athlete with creative flair who captained Australia to a gold medal at underage level and most recently returned from representing Netball Australia in a three-day international tour in Tonga.
GIANTS Netball Head Coach Nerida Stewart said she is excited to see ‘Otai take her game to new levels in 2026.
“Mon is one of those great netballers that is reliable out on the court but also can sprinkle a little magic within her game. That’s exciting to work with,” she said.
“We are looking forward to seeing her continued development in a high-performance environment.
“Her game is versatile with impressive strength on the hold along with speed and creativity in a moving circle. She is threat at the post with great accuracy across both the one and two point shot.
“Further to her evolving skillset, Mon is highly respected amongst her peers for her genuine, caring nature and her strong leadership skills.”
Fresh from representing Australia in the Tala-Tutone Tour in Tonga, ‘Otai was thrilled to be continuing her journey with the GIANTS.
“I’m super excited. GIANTS is my home,” ‘Otai said.
“The last few years have been massive for my growth both on and off the court, and I’ve honestly loved every bit of it. Everyone’s so close and I think that’s what makes us so competitive because we push each other to be the best but we’ve always got each other’s backs.”
The talented youngster said she can’t wait to take her games to new levels next season.
“Season 2026 is all about continuing to level up physically, mentally and in my behaviours on and off the court. I want to keep building consistency and making more of an impact when I’m out there.
“We’ve got new faces and plenty of experience in the group so I’m really keen to keep learning from everyone, especially our coaches, who have been unreal in pushing and supporting us already early into the pre-season.
“The group has come back really hungry, and you can feel how driven and connected everyone is. The girls are looking really good, so I’m super excited to jump back in and get stuck into next season.”
