The GIANTS have made one forced change to their team for this weekend’s round seven clash with the Melbourne Vixens on Sunday afternoon.
Following the unfortunate news regarding Jodi-Ann Ward’s season ending ACL injury on Monday, the GIANTS have named former Silver Ferns captain Casey Kopua as her replacement for this Sunday’s match.
One of the most decorated players to represent the Silver Ferns, Kopua has a national league career spanning 17 seasons at the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic.
A circle-defender, match-winner and natural leader, Kopua brings a wealth of experience and composure to a depleted GIANTS defensive end who will be without both Ward and McDonell.
Known for her tenacity, game smarts, and ability to lift those around her, the former world champion is expected to provide invaluable guidance to the young GIANTS squad.
While this appearance marks a surprise return to the elite level, her competitive edge and leadership credentials make her a formidable inclusion for Sunday’s clash against the Vixens.
