The GIANTS have named one forced change for this weekend's trip to Adelaide.
Following Wednesday’s injury update regarding Jane Watson and her unavailability, the GIANTS have elevated academy member Dakota Thomas to the game day squad for round five.
A Newcastle Native, Thomas is no stranger to the Super Netball environment in New South Wales with the now 25-year-old a former Swifts Training Partner.
Thomas spent the 2025 season as part of the Southern Steel playing in the ANZ Premiership in New Zealand.
Known for her speed and defensive versatility, Thomas will provide the GIANTS with extra agility across all three defensive positions.
GIANTS Head Coach Nerida Stewart congratulated and welcomed Thomas into the squad for this weekend.
“Dakota is a talented and mature replacement option, and we believe she is the best fit for us this weekend.
“Dakota has been a regular participant in our Thursday match simulation sessions, so is familiar with our brand of netball and is physically conditioned to meet the demands of the Super Netball playing environment immediately.”
“She has been in the broader Netball New South Wales pathway for a number of years now, so we’re thrilled to be able to offer her this elevated game opportunity.”
The GIANTS will travel to Adelaide on Friday to take on the Thunderbirds at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Saturday evening.
