Fan favourite, Amy Sligar, has recommitted to the club, signing a new three-year agreement to become the first Sydney Sirens player.
Having debuted for the GIANTS in 2021, Sligar has developed into one of the competition's most respected and versatile midcourters. Across six seasons, she has become a cornerstone of the club's playing group, recognised for her relentless work ethic, leadership qualities and commitment to the community.
Off the court, Sligar has become a familiar voice in Australian netball through her regular appearances across SEN Netball platforms - including SEN 1170am's Nothing But Netball with Jelisa Apps - helping grow the sport and deepen fan engagement beyond match day.
Sligar said she was honoured to continue her journey into the club's next era.
"The GIANTS will always be a huge part of who I am and my career. The people, the memories and the relationships I've built here over the past six seasons will stay with me forever," Sligar said.
"This new chapter isn't about leaving that history behind. It's about taking everything we've built together and creating something new.
"There's something really powerful about the Sirens identity. It's bold, fierce, confident and inclusive. It's a club that wants to make an impact and bring people along for the journey.
"I'm incredibly proud to become the inaugural Sydney Sirens player and I can't wait to see our members and fans join us as we build this next chapter together."
Sirens inaugural Head Coach, Nerida Stewart, said retaining Sligar was a major statement for the club's future.
"Amy embodies everything we want the Sydney Sirens to stand for," Stewart said.
"She's fiercely competitive, team-first, deeply connected to our community and someone who sets standards every day through her actions.
"Her growth as a player and leader has been exceptional and we're thrilled she has committed to the club for the next three seasons. Having Amy become our inaugural Siren is incredibly fitting and we're excited for her to play a major role in what comes next."
Stewart will return as Head Coach for the 2027 Super Netball season, alongside Assistant Coach, Jen Wright, providing continuity for the playing group as the club embarks on its next chapter.
The Sydney Sirens will make their Super Netball debut in 2027, with further announcements regarding players, memberships, partnerships and community initiatives to be made in the coming weeks.
