The GIANTS are excited to confirm that Skye Thompson has been elevated to a permanent replacement player for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Thompson will remain a full-time member of the team after Lucy Austin was ruled out of the 2026 season following surgery on her right foot.
A product of the Swifts Academy and NSW 19U State Team, Thompson made her Suncorp Super Netball debut in round seven, where she scored three goals.
A versatile utility capable of playing both wing and goal attack, the Sutherland Shire local was initially announced as the club's Training Partner, before being elevated to 11th Player ahead of the season.
GIANTS Netball Head Coach Nerida Stewart said Thompson’s elevation reflects the club’s commitment to developing local talent.
“We’re really pleased to elevate Skye as a permanent replacement player. She’s a terrific example of the local talent coming through the pathways, and it’s something we’re passionate about as a club,” Stewart said.
“From the moment she joined us, Skye embraced our standards and continues to improve every week, and that was clear in the way she stepped up for her SSN debut. She took her opportunity with confidence and showed what she’s capable of.
“She brings a strong work ethic and a great attitude every day, and those qualities have made her a valued member of the group, and we’re excited to see her keep developing.”
Thompson and her teammates will host the Melbourne Mavericks on Sunday afternoon at Ken Rosewall Arena. Grab your tickets here.
