English International Jo Harten has topped off a stellar season, named the HCF Most Valuable Player for 2022.
Star shooter, Jo Harten, has won the GIANTS’ 2022 HCF Most Valuable Player, taking home the club’s top award for the fourth time.
After leading her side to their fourth finals appearance in six years, Harten has taken out the clubs most prestigious award at the GIANTS Gala Dinner in Sydney on Friday night.
Harten has been a draw card for the club and competition since the inaugural season in 2017 and showed again this year the calibre of player that she is.
The English International stood tall for her side all season, stepping up at times when they needed her the most.
Harten finished the GIANTS’ 16-game season with 524 goals at 87% accuracy, including 64 Suncorp Super Shots.
Some of the 32-year-old’s most notable performances were against the Magpies in round five, shooting 50 goals at 100%, as well as her match-winning performance against the Queensland Firebirds in round 12.
Coach Julie Fitzgerald congratulated the stalwart.
“Jo is an amazing player both on and off the court,” said Fitzgerald.
“She leads with her actions, and it amazes me how she keeps coming back each year and raising her game.
“She plays quite a different game to a lot of the other shooters in the league, but her skill and her smarts make her a huge threat, not only in Suncorp Super Netball but in world netball.
“From everyone at the GIANTS, we congratulate her on this well-deserved award and are looking forward to her leading us into 2023 and beyond.”
It was Harten’s night, with the English Rose also taking out the Members’ Player of the Year as well as the Players’ Player alongside Amy Parmenter.
