Kristiana Manu’a will miss the opening round clash for the GIANTS with a minor calf strain.
Manu’a reported a sense of tightness and pain throughout Friday’s light training session in Sydney and was tested during a session in Adelaide late yesterday afternoon.
Upon consultation with medical staff, the decision was made for Manu’a to miss the opening round match, taking a cautious approach given the long season ahead.
Manu’a is expected to return to the GIANTS side in 1-2 weeks.
Training Partner Amy Sligar will join the listed 10 players for the round one match against the Adelaide Thunderbirds.
Sligar, a strong defensive midcourter, has impressed throughout the GIANTS’ pre-season campaign to earn the call up.
Should she take the court, she will be making her Suncorp Super Netball debut.
The GIANTS begin their 2021 season when they take on the Adelaide Thunderbirds at 3:00pm (AEST) this afternoon.
