GIANTS Netball would like to congratulate and thank Annie Miller, with the 2021 Training Partner signing with the Sunshine Coast Lightning as part of their contracted squad of 10 for season 2022.
Miller is a NSW junior, having started out at Orange Netball Association – an area closely affiliated with the GIANTS.
Having made her way through the NSW Pathway, Miller joined the GIANTS as a Training Partner ahead of the 2021 season, following time in the GIANTS Netball Academy.
The 20-year-old was part of the GIANTS’ team in round two this year, getting the opportunity to take the court during the first-ever game at Ken Rosewall Arena and becoming GIANT #24.
Coach Julie Fitzgerald congratulated Miller on her contract with the Lightning.
“This is an exciting opportunity for Annie - I’m really happy for her,” she said.
“We want nothing more than for our athletes across all levels of our program to succeed and while we’d love to see them all in orange, we’d never hold them back from an opportunity to further their careers.
“It’s been a tough year for our Training Partners, but Annie certainly relished in her opportunities at the start of the year, and we saw what she was capable of during our pre-season matches, including in her hometown of Orange.
“I wish her all the best for the move, and I can’t wait to see what she can do in 2022.”
Miller expressed her gratitude towards the GIANTS following the announcement.
“I am extremely grateful for my time at the GIANTS as a Training Partner,” she said.
“I’ve learnt so much from the amazing players and people at the club and can honestly say I have forged lifelong friends.
“A massive thank to Julie (Fitzgerald) and (Assistant Coach) Jenny (O’Keeffe) for giving me the opportunity to develop my netball in an SSN environment. Their support has been an integral part in shaping the player and person I am today.
“I’m excited to have been offered a full-time contract with the Lightning and keen to embrace a whole new netball community on the Sunny Coast.
“I wish all my GIANTS friends the best of luck for the upcoming season and can’t wait to take them on at my new home.”
