Amy Parmenter has advised the GIANTS that she will be pursuing new opportunities for the 2024 season and beyond.
The Randwick junior joined the GIANTS as a training partner in the club’s inaugural season in 2017 before earning a full-time contract ahead of the 2019 season.
Debuting in round one, 2019, the star wing defender played every game in her debut season and went on to earn the League’s rising star award.
The 26-year-old finishes her seven seasons at the GIANTS with 72 caps, two Members’ Player of the Year Awards (2019 and 2020) and a Players’ Player Award (2022).
GIANTS coach Julie Fitzgerald said she is disappointed, but respected Parmenter's decision.
“Amy is one of the best defensive midcourters in the game so of course we’re disappointed to lose her, but that’s sport,” Fitzgerald said.
“Amy has contributed so much to our club both on and off the court over her seven years and we thank her for that service.
“As we bid farewell to one player, it opens up opportunities for others and I'm excited by the conversations we’re having.
“I can’t wait to share a new-look GIANTS squad for 2024.”
A proud product of the Netball NSW pathway, Parmenter said this has been one of the hardest decisions she’s made.
“I am so grateful for my time at the GIANTS,” Parmenter said.
“It’s been my home for seven years and I am the person and the netballer I am today because of the opportunities this club has given me and because of the people I have been lucky enough to train and play with.
“I will always love my GIANTS family, including the amazing orange army. I have felt the support all the way back to my Canberra GIANTS days. The love and belief from everyone is something I will never forget.
“I have had some of my best days in orange and will hold onto many of those moments so tightly for the rest of my netball career and beyond.
“This has been such a tough decision, and the challenge ahead is way out of my comfort zone, but I am excited for the growth that comes with that.”
Super Netball clubs and players are currently awaiting further information around the signing period for 2024.
