Prior to round one of the 2019 Suncorp Super Netball season, Amy Parmenter was virtually unknown.
After just three elite games, her name was already becoming a point of conversation and she had received her first player of the match in the top competition.
Just a few months later, Parmenter was rewarded for her standout debut season to the elite competition; named the GIANTS Netball Members’ Player of the Year and also receiving the league’s Rising Star Award.
Head Coach Julie Fitzgerald said coming into her second season, Parmenter is aware of the challenge to keep growing from the brilliant rookie season she had.
“We know she’s more than capable of rising to the challenge and the work she has put in during the pre-season should give her the confidence to continue to be a dominant force in the league,” Fitzgerald said.
Parmenter recorded the highest number of intercepts for any GIANTS player in 2019, with a total of 25 across her 14 games.
“Amy’s speed and anticipation gives her an edge in defence and she has improved her attacking game to provide great back-up through the court,” said Fitzgerald.
Parmenter has been playing across all three centre court positions during pre-season, so fans should be prepared to see the pocket rocket take on all areas of the midcourt.
The season is set to begin on August 1, with the first phase of the fixture set to be released by the end of the week.
