Caitlin Bassett will line up in the orange dress for her second season in 2020.
Among the disruptions that all athletes have faced this pre-season, Bassett also had the addition of recovering from an MCL injury suffered in March.
The delayed start to the season has been a blessing in disguise and allowed the 193cm shooter to fully recover and be fit for the revised round one start date.
Head Coach Julie Fitzgerald said Bassett will be looking forward to entering round one injury-free and to get back to her best.
“She is one of the most dominant shooters under the posts and is capable of scoring lots of goals quickly,” Fitzgerald said.
Bassett made a strong start to her career as a GIANT in 2019, forming a potent target in attack alongside both Jo Harten and Kiera Austin.
The 32-year-old finished with 492 goals and was the league-leader for offensive rebounds with 50 for the season.
This season will see the controversial introduction of the long-range two-point shot.
“Our training sessions have shown she is capable of the two-point shot and her ability to rebound under the post will give her shooting partner the confidence to put the ball up,” said Fitzgerald.
With the majority of the season set to be played between Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and regional Queensland, Bassett will be returning to familiar territory where she won two Suncorp Super Netball titles with the Sunshine Coast Lightning.
The season is set to begin on the 1st of August, with the first phase of the fixture set to be released by the end of the week.
