A versatile player who is known to change up a game, Kiera Austin is ready to play her part for the GIANTS in 2020.
Austin was not a starting seven player in 2019, but instead was used to enter the game at crucial moments to change momentum both in the goal circle and midcourt.
The 22-year-old Diamonds Squad member has the ability to play as both a deadly accurate shooter, who can easily score within the super shot range, but also a crafty WA.
With the starting WA position vacant this year, it will be a matter of time to see if Austin makes her name in goals or the mid-court this season … or even both.
GIANTS Head Coach Julie Fitzgerald said Kiera showed great improvement across the 2019 season and is ready to grab her opportunity.
“She is a deceptive player who finds space easily and has a great change of pace,” Fitzgerald said.
“With the new rolling substitutions in place, there is every chance we could see Kiera in both WA and goals in the same quarter.”
Working hard in the off-season both in the gym and the court, Austin is ready to give 2020 everything she’s got.
“This year we will see her play a valuable role in the GIANTS line up as a stronger, fitter and smarter player returns for 2020,” said Fitzgerald.
The season is not far away with the GIANTS set to take on the West Coast Fever at Ken Rosewall Arena in round one on Saturday 1st of August.
